Learnabilities
We all learn differently, and some of us learn more differently! Sometimes we focus only on our challenges, and we don't feel confident. This website is about helping each of us find more success by using the learning abilities, or "learnabilities," we already have. Just as it takes a village to raise a child, it takes a network of active minds to put together a set of effective educational strategies and resources.
Whether you are a student or a teacher, homeschooler/parent, or another caring adult… Welcome to the team!

Three Key Components to Success

Empowerment
When we feel empowered, we know our strengths and challenges, understand what we need (and can advocate for it), and have the confidence and motivation to succeed.
Strategies
When we have strategies that work for us and build on our strengths, we have the right tools to acocmplish tasks and overcome our challenges.
Mindfulness
When we are mindful, we can focus on the current task, without dwelling on past performances or worrying about future results.

How We Support Learning Differences

Information
We explore best practices, philosophical questions, and challenging issues related to learning.

Resources
By collecting effective strategies and resources, we offer tools for anyone who teaches to best support the unique learning profiles of the individuals they teach and for students to build their own effective learning toolboxes.

Community
We invite public and private school teachers, administrators and school staff, coaches and club leaders, parents and grandparents, and any other caring adults who teach, as well as traditional students and homeschoolers, to collaborate with us.

Read what our families say about us!

Mindy has been my tutor since I was a sophomore in high school. She spent many long hours coaching me on how to be organized, how to improve my study habits, pay attention to detail and never give up. If there was anything I didn’t understand, no matter what subject it was, she would gladly teach it to me in a manner that was geared towards my own strengths. Not only did Mindy help me to become a better student, she also prepared me for the great endeavor ahead of me, college. Without her help I don’t feel I would be where I am today. I am currently attending [ ] College earning a BSN and a ROTC scholarship student. Mindy and I still keep in touch, and whenever I am struggling with a tough paper, Mindy is just a phone call away. She is always willing to fit me into her schedule, even if she has to sacrifice time with her family.

Miss Mindy worked with both of my children. [My daughter] was very shy in new situations, and reading was difficult for her. I could tell she was comfortable around Mindy right away. After her first session with Miss Mindy, she told me that she was smart. She said, "Miss Mindy makes me feel smart." She was excited to work with her again. She began to like reading more even though it was a struggle. [My daughter] is a freshman in high school now. She is doing well in school and is confident in herself. Miss Mindy also worked with my son when he was in elementary school and then again last year to prepare for the Algebra Regents exam. [My son] had a difficult time with math. Mindy showed him that there were different ways to solve the problems he was doing. She would ask him how he got an answer, and if it was wrong, she would ask him if he knew why? That helped him to really see what he was doing wrong. [My son] is doing better in math this year. One of the biggest things is Mindy realizes all children and teenagers are different. They all learn differently. She helped them to see their strengths and used that to help them to find strategies to improve what they were struggling with.

My son struggled in math in his junior year. I think his math improved tremendously from the beginning of the school year. Mindy is a great person to work with. I liked the atmosphere. My son was very comfortable going to Learnabilities.

Mindy, thanks so much for all of your help this semester! You really brought [my daughter] around and taught her some things that no one else has done before. With your help and individualized attention, she has really increased her success at school! Thanks for everything…

Mindy helped me so much at Learnabilities. I struggled with reading comprehension and other learning difficulties throughout grade school. It took a toll on me as a young kid being behind all my classmates academically. Learnabilities not only helped me academically but Mindy guided me with building my confidence to always try again and never give up. Learnabilities played such a huge role in my life as a young child into adulthood. I graduated the top of my class in college and obtained my masters degree in the field that I love. Throughout my entire academic career I always thought of the tools Mindy taught me and utilized the confidence in myself to never back down and always try again. Learnabilities taught me patience, discipline, and a great understanding of myself and the world around me. Thank you Mindy and Learnabilities for everything, I could not have done it without you.
